So I'm killing time watching Kate & Allie on netflix, and I come across this:

Am I the only one watching this Lifetime movie? With Callum and Hugh? Which, for those who are so talented, has Callum saying the above, which would be an awesome sound byte to have on my computer.

And Callum is a writer, so he gets to be all professorial and smart and hot. And Hugh is eeevil. They haven't had a scene together yet, but I suppose it could happen.

he gave a speech about 30 minutes away from my house.

Seriously, I loved him before, but now I want to have his babies.

The thing was supposed to start at 10:30, and we waited in the sun with no DRINKS (thanks, security guys!) for, hmmmm....when did he start talking? Oh yeah. 1:30. People were passing out, and finally, around 1, they drove in golf carts full of water and Power drinks, and handed them out for free.  

But I got to see him, real, live, in person. And yes, he is THAT awesome.

He focused on health care and how much it sucks now, and his plans for the future.

Even if he doesn't get elected, which (pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzz) I would still work for him. The man is brilliant.

He also made a crack about if we believed somethingorother, he had a bridge in Alaska to sell us. Snert.
 

So, I wanted to take one last little trip while I still live in Asia.  I could go on ff miles to China, see the great wall, shop,--excellent. 

My friend /flatmate says she'd love to come too, if I can change the days. I had already asked for those days off at work, but I checked with my boss and worked it out. It's not that I minded going by myself, but it would be more fun to go with someone else. 

Supposed to leave tomorrow (wed) at 6:45pm. 

At 4:45 TODAY (tues) I get an email from her. Not a text, not a phone call, an email:

"Hey, don't you leave tonight?  Sorry, I can't make it. Too busy at work."

Um, wtf? 

First of all, what do you MEAN you're not going???!?!!?!?!?!

And second of all, when was she planning on telling me this? Because if I was leaving tonight, I would have ALREADY been at the airport by then! Not to mention, our airport is 2 hours away. And since she sent it to my yahoo mail, not my phone, I never would have gotten that message. I just would have been standing around waiting for her ass to show up at the airport.

This has been planned for a month, and I'm NOT cancelling. I will go to Beijing by my damn self. And I will have FUN! 

Believe it or not, I've calmed down. I was so angry I was vibrating before. It wasn't pretty. 

Anyone want anything from China?

It occurs to me that tomorrow is June 1. (in my time zone, at least)

I have to be out of my apt. at the end of the month.

All of my shit needs to be boxed for freight shipment by around June 25. 

I have to get rid of my furniture, either selling or giving away. And there's no handy-dandy thrift store here that will just happily take all your crap. And if you throw it away, you have to pay them to take it. $50 for a TV or VCR, $20-100 for med-large furniture. 

Am I packing? Am I going through things? 

Nope. I'm futzing around on the internet, and I am taking a trip to China on June 18. 

I lose at planning ahead. Well, planning at all, really. 

Someone yell at me, please. Either that or give me something else to distract myself with. 

All that said, "I'M MOVING BACK TO THE US!!!!" 

And, I got an assistantship for grad school, which pays half my tuition. Yay for less loan debt!

 Bronchitis, actually. But it started as a cold. At least the doctor was nice enough to give me antibiotics. Yes, I know, makes my body more resistant blah blah blah. I want instant gratification, and zithromax makes me feel better.

Now I just want to sleeeeeeep. I had to go to work today because my boss was off, and everybody gets panicky if we're both gone. 

My ears are all plugged up. I hate that. when I was a kid I would describe it as "My yawn is stuck", which, how cute was I?

Crawling into a corner to die now. And possibly to read From Afar.

Send H/C fic. Because I know Fraser and Ray would take good care of me.  

Also, why isn't dead a mood icon?

BUT

now I have a week or two to let them know, and I'm still waiting to hear from another school, which won't tell me until May 1.

So you have to remember that only about 10 days ago I met omphale23and pocketmousebecause one of them said "Paul Gross" in a crowd. 

Continuing with the theme of this trip, I'm sitting in the Newark airport waiting for my flight to Tokyo to board when I hear over the PA: "Paging Paul Gross, Paul Gross please report to Gate 104 for an important message."

I'm at gate 121. 

Three minutes. 

That's how long I sat there before I decided it couldn't POSSIBLY be him, but it couldn't hurt to LOOK, now could it? 

And no, it wasn't, or if by some miracle it was, he wasn't there when I got there. But, hee!

Okay, who out there knows about dog sex? And I'm talking about gay dog sex, so I know someone does. 

I'm housesitting, and my friend's dogs are, um, very compatible. They just got this beagle, and the other dog is a shepherd mix. 

They're both boys, so not worried about puppies or anything, I'm mostly just worried that the big dog is going to hurt the little one. He seems to think the whole thing is a pretty good idea, but what does he know?

The only way to keep them apart is to keep them kenneled, which seems mean.

Should I separate them, or tell the beagle to lie back and think of England?

How happy would it make Paul if he knew that I almost got whiplash from spinning around when I heard his name? 

Whiplash or not, I got to meet pocketmouse and omphale23, **waves**  which was just made of win. This on top of  my first Great Big Sea show in 5 years. (Hmm, I need to get some GBS icons). Which included their little friend, Russell Crowe. Nice of them, really, to help a guy get started in show bizness. \o/

I'm going to go die of happy now.

 My friend wants to set me up with a guy she knows. She keeps telling me we'd be PERFECT for each other. 

This seems to be loosely based on him being Canadian, and being a geek, both of which I dig. 

But she's always qualified this with, "But....he likes musical theater, like Gilbert & Sullivan". 

Hm. I like Gilbert and Sullivan, just haven't run into too many men who do. But okay.

THEN I force her to watch Slings & Arrows, and when Basil comes on, she says, "(this guy) reminds me alot of Basil. Especially the way he talks. But you two would be perfect for each other!" 

So, my question. 

Does musical theater=gay? Or is it just part of the geekiness? And could I date Basil? Really? 

There's not much I wouldn't do for Canadian citizenship, though, so.....

Okay, so, I applied to 5 schools. I heard back from one that I'm waitlisted, but I'm still invited to the New Student Orientation, held mid-March.

IDEALLY, I'll have heard from the other 4 by then, and can maybe visit them too. 

In the meantime, is it worth it to buy a ticket back to the US, missing a week of work, for a school I may not get admitted to? 

In the interest of full disclosure:

The money's not a big problem, tickets are cheap from Japan. Still, I don't want to spend it if I don't have to.

My boss would let me take the time off. And the following week is our Spring Break, so we're closed anyway.

It's also the week of my favorite 9 year-old's birthday, and he'd LOVE it if I was there for his party. 

There's a Great Big Sea concert in DC that week. I haven't seen them live in SIX YEARS.

Last night, for the first time in who knows how long, I....

 So I had a phone interview with the admissions person at what is currently my top choice for grad school. This was last night at 11 pm, because of the time zone thingy.

I think, maybe, it is entirely possible, that I was a dork. I hope not. Or that I successfully masqueraded my dorkiness. 

Also, I was hopped up on cold medicine....I wonder if I actually answered her questions or if I was just babbling....oh god. I'm going to go be nervous now.
